As young women we are taught to care for others. We are intuitively nurturing and caring of other people and sometimes, a lot of the time we put their needs before our own. As we grow older though, we come to realize that if we don’t start putting our own needs first we will never be happy. We start to feel lost, frustrated, isolated and bitter, and a lot of the time we suffer from physical ailments such as anxiety and depression. We suddenly realize that it’s time to take our power back. However, we are often not sure how to do that. What steps do we take and what tools do we need to be able to feel empowered, confident, and capable of caring for ourselves? We were not taught these things. Now, lef’s not play the blame game here. It’s not our parents fault, they weren’t taught these tools either. Oftentimes, we find in our path someone that can help us. I call these people our earth angels. I’ve had a few show up on my path just when I needed them, and they helped me through some troubling times in my life when I felt at my lowest and completely lost. I am forever grateful to these wonderful people.

I believe that when we have been through challenges and trials and have learned the new tools needed to get through those, it is important and even imperative to share our new knowledge. It’s important to give back what we know, so that other women (or men) going through such trials and challenges can find their way once again.

Yoga Nidra – Upcoming Dates!

 

If you have never tried Yoga Nidra I invite you to come out to the studio and try a class. These classes are led by Jen Duguay. Jen has a very warm, loving energy and leads a very peaceful and empowering class.

Below is a brief description of what Yoga Nidra is all about, but I really encourage you to come in and experience this wonderfully relaxing class for yourself.

Yoga Nidra or ‘Yogi Sleep’ is a sleep-like state which yogis report to experience during their meditation practice. Yoga Nidra, lucid sleeping is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness. Intended to induce full body relaxation.

This practice of yoga relaxation has been found to reduce tension, and anxiety by quieting the overactive conscious mind, moving into a meditative state. You will leave feeling completely rejuvenated. One hour of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 4 hours of REM sleep.

If you have worked with me in any of the above ways, you know that this work is a daily, weekly and monthly commitment, and so these sessions are meant to help you stay accountable to the process once the workshop and coaching sessions are done. They will be casual, unscripted sessions in which you come together to keep each other motivated and empowered to keep moving forward with your goals. I am here to offer you a safe space to share and be truly, authentically you!

  • 30 minute fitness assessment & movement screening.
  • Healthy meal options -I don’t do strict meal plans. This will be more about adding in healthy options as opposed to lots of restrictions.
  • Group Classes – You will be able to choose one of two classes. Tuesday night at 6:15 or Thursday morning at 11:00 am. (See my online calendar for other classes). These are more like small personal training sessions. Each client is set up with their own program and will come in once a week to allow me to coach, motivate, encourage and be sure you’re doing the exercises properly.
  • Coaching / accountability sessions
  • Weigh in and/or measurements – The scale is not my favourite tool for keeping anyone accountable. I will only use this option if you feel and strong need for it and know that it won’t sabotage your progress.
  • Home workout programs – tailored specifically to your needs.

Teen Fitness Starts November 21st.

Health Coaching for Young Women!
This class is a combination of exercise and discussions designed to teach our young girls about body awareness and how to use weights and exercise properly, paying attention to form and technique.
They will learn to exercise at their level and to be mindful of themselves and how they treat their bodies.
We will also discuss healthy nutrition and a healthy, positive attitude.
We will also discuss how they can better cope with and reduce the stress in their lives, as well as body image and how to look at, and think of themselves in a more loving, positive and healthy way.
What they will learn:
-Exercise properly and at your level
-Reduce stress
-The importance of eating healthy
-The difference between carbs, protein and fats
-Which weights to use and how to use them
-How to respect and love yourself
-How to feel strong and confident
