Goju Ryu Karate

This traditional martial art originating over 120 years ago in Okinawa, is characterized by a combination of hard “Go” and soft “Ju” components.  It has many aspects, including exercise for the body, mind, and spirit, while teaching self-defense.  Paul teaches this program in the time-honored traditional way.  He does not promote competition, but rather self-knowledge, confidence, and respect for all people.  The program is appropriate for all adults and children (5+).

Paul shownig students how to perform a Kata

Paul started karate in 2007 when he signed his sons up at a local school. Every week he would go with them and participate as well. He enjoyed it so much that he kept it up when his boys decided to leave the sport at that time. Paul is now a second degree blackbelt, and enjoys teaching this sport to students of all ages.

Frequently the parents that bring their children to learn from him start participating themselves and they often keep it up along with their children, and sometimes even after their son or daughter has decided to leave the sport. It’s an option, but not mandatory.
